Eligibility: check your route
For the Master's/equivalent route, General/Unreserved and General-EWS candidates need at least 55% marks; OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and third-gender candidates need at least 50%. Candidates awaiting their qualifying result can apply provisionally, subject to the bulletin's completion conditions.
A separate route exists for four-year/eight-semester bachelor's degree candidates with at least 75% aggregate, with the specified 5% relaxation for eligible categories. Qualifying through this undergraduate route can support JRF and Ph.D. admission, not Assistant Professor appointment. Final-year applicants must meet the bulletin's later-completion rules.
The JRF upper age limit is 30 years as on 1 December 2026, with the stated relaxations. There is no upper age limit for the Assistant Professor route. Read the full bulletin for your qualification, category and intended result route before paying.

The subjects are Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences and Bio-Technology; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences.

Apply carefully
- Visit the official CSIR NET website and follow its December 2026 application link.
- Read the information bulletin, check your eligibility and prepare the photograph, signature and required category/qualification records in the live portal's format.
- Complete one application with contact details you can access, choose the subject and cities, and review all entries.
- Pay the applicable fee and save the confirmation page. The process is online; do not send a printed application or certificates to NTA.
- Check correction, city-slip and admit-card updates on the official website. Qualification does not guarantee a job or admission.
